What I wore: Peach fit and flare dress
I’ve really been loving colour lately. If you know me, you’ll remember that for years, I wore A LOT of black. Mum often asked me why and my response was always the same, because I liked it.
But for some time now, I’ve felt myself drawn to brighter colours. I’ll chalk it down to the shift I’ve had in my life that has had me longing to play around with colour.
I still add black accents to my outfits, like I did with this fit and flare dress, and that gives me a sense of comfort, reminding me of where I’ve come from.
On to today’s outfit, this was a dress I acquired from my little sister. Since the weather in Nairobi is yet to let up, I layered the dress with a black long-sleeved knitted top and stockings for an event we had at work.
I’d put on heels but with all the running around, I reverted back to my gold-coloured brogues. For jewellery, I opted for my brass pieces (now my all time favourite): earrings and a set of rings.
Looking at this outfit, I long for the warmer weather when styling my dresses was so easy. But I’m excited for the challenge of relearning how to dress weather-appropriately but still look smart.
Have you noticed any changes in your colour preferences lately? What are you gravitating towards?
