Layers. The key to dressing and getting through a freezing cold day. As I type this, I’m wearing my warmest puffer jacket, socks, with a blanket on my legs and I’m still cold. This week the weather in Nairobi has proved that no matter how prepared we think we are for the cold, it still has a few tricks up its sleeve.
Even with my go-to winter essentials comprising of jeans and cozy knits, every once in a while I feel like dressing up, because hey, inasmuch as I love my jeans, I’m a sucker for a cute dress.
I previously styled this dress with sneakers for the warmer weather but I decided to give it a whirl in the winter by putting on the layers in the form of thick stockings and a warm coat. To top it all off I added these chocolate coloured boots which I felt offset the lighter colours of the outfit beautifully.
Looking back, and considering how cold it is today, I would probably add a warmer coat and a scarf of some kind if I needed to winterize it some more. Alternatively, pairing it with a cropped cozy sweater and turning the dress into a skirt would look even better.
How have you been this week? I hope the cold hasn’t dampened your spirits and you’re still pushing on. After what I would call an exhausting week, I came across this forward and it made me burst out laughing. I thought I’d share it with you in case you need some cheering up today.
Thank you for stopping by.
