Over the last three months, I have been running a series on the basic items a woman’s closet should have. I started this series in an effort to help those of you who are looking to update your closets have an idea of where to begin.
The series started as a way for me to empty my closet of excess clothes that I had been holding on to even when I knew I needed to discard of them. With the help of this series, I have managed to reduce my closet by more than half. Even the shoes and bags that I hadn’t been wearing have been donated.
1. Day dress
2. Black dress
3. Trench coat
4. Jeans
5. Denim alternative
6. Blazer
As with my blog, this guide is meant to be just that, a guide. I am not saying that your closet should only consist of these items but that these are the building blocks of every woman’s closet. You can then add what I call “fluff” pieces, to fill in the gaps.
7. Classic dress pants
8. White button down shirt
9. Sweater
10. Basic skirt
11. Plain t-shirt
12. Handbag
13. Classic pumps
Did you enjoy the series? What are some of the lessons you learnt? Do share them in the comments below.
