This post is dedicated to my plus-size sisters who may be grappling with how to stay warm and stylish without the layers adding on the pounds.
The colder months are my favourite time of year so I end up spending a lot of time putting together outfit ideas not only for myself but for you as well. I hope this post is useful to everyone looking to up their game this cold season.
The best piece of advice I can give you when it comes to putting on the layers is to be wary of proportions. A cardigan/sweater worn over a fitting pair of trousers say skinny jeans or even leggings is your best bet when it comes to creating a seamless yet warm look. The beauty of this kind of outfit is that you can add your boots and look every bit the fashionista.
If you still want to bring out your waterfall sweaters, wear them belted around the smallest part of your waist for a modern take on this oldie but goodie.
I have met more than a few lovely ladies who wouldn’t dare wear anything that is loose-fitting for fear of looking like they are bigger than they really are. In my view (and experience) this is not necessarily the case. A loose-fitting dress worn slightly above the knee when paired with stockings and heels is a very chic outfit. The extra leg you show because of the slightly shorter hemline makes you look taller hence camouflaging the fact that you are a curvier girl.
Full skirts are the IT right now and don’t let the dull weather force you to fold them up for warmer days. Pair your full skirt with a fitted knit top or turtleneck (don’t worry these are still fashionable), add a statement necklace, dark tights and heels and you are good to go.
I just had to add this outfit to this list. Trench coats can safely come out of storage and I love this flared style. I think this is a great style-option for hippier girls who might struggle with getting a trench coat that fits on the bodice as well as on the hips. Don’t be afraid to go for a bold colour like cobalt blue or even red. Dark trousers or pencil skirt will bring out this statement coat very well.

One of the things I promised myself I would do, ever since this pandemic started and life slowed down, is that I would dress up every single day. Granted, I had nowhere to go, but putting on an outfit, no matter how simple, uplifted my…
