The onset of the cold weather always comes with its own level of excitement. I love changing out my wardrobe, switching my light, summer dresses for trousers, long-sleeved tops and cozy jackets.
With black as my go-to colour, a lot of my winter wardrobe is black but lately I’ve found myself yearning for some colour. I opted to add a few sweaters in colours other than black, which I could mix and match with the items that are currently in my wardrobe countless times.
This outfit is my go-to winter outfit: jeans, a cotton t-shirt (long-sleeved for added warmth), a cozy knit, socks and boots. I don’t wear scarves all the time but it was super cold when I took these photos and I didn’t want to get a sore throat. So the black scarf stayed on.
These block heel ankle boots haven’t gotten enough wear. They were a gift from a good friend years ago and I’m sad to say that I haven’t worn them enough. I love them, they’re super comfortable for how high they are but I just haven’t had a suitable occasion to wear them.
The puffer jacket is now a favourite. For years, I was a winter coat kind of girl but when the love and need for comfort struck, I turned to puffer coats and haven’t had a moment’s regret. I’d love to collect these in other colours but, for the sake of keeping my closet streamlined, I’m on the look out for either a dark green or brown one to add to the two black puffer coats I own.
I’m not big on jewellery, save for earrings, and a ring once in a while. The concept of a necklace is very good but I tried it and the feeling of the cold metal against my neck was too unpleasant to bear. So I shelved that until it warms up a bit.
What other items do you add to your winter wardrobe to make it pop? I need ideas. Even as I have a tried and tested formula, my wardrobe has become very uninspiring.
