How To Remain Motivated [Throughout The Year]

How To Remain Motivated [Throughout The Year]
Towards the end of 2016, I felt so unmotivated. I just couldn’t get myself psyched to work among other things. I didn’t know how I was going to do it but I knew I wanted 2017 to be different.
Come January 2017, I had my goals written down and I worked hard. But by the time February came along, I could feel the initial steam wearing out. I felt like I was sinking back to the state I was in in December and I didn’t like it. So I worked out a way to motivate myself and keep that psych up in the coming months.
Below are 6 practices that are helping me to remain motivated:
inches to style
1. Revisit your goals often
Having noted down your goals and how you plan to achieve them, make sure you revisit them often. A simple reminder will help you get that much needed morale boost.
2. Note down your progress
No matter how little the progress you are making, note it down. For instance, if your goal is to eat more home cooked meals during the week, be it for lunch or dinner, you can note down how many times you managed to make your own meal from scratch, per week and celebrate it even if you only managed once that week. That should motivate you to increase to two times the following week.
3. Watch or read motivational stories
Stories from people who have gone through what you are going through, when looked at with a lot of positivity, will encourage you in your journey. I recently watched two videos on YouTube that really encouraged me both as a single mum and as an entrepreneur.
4. Talk to a mentor or close friend
Speaking to someone about your goals, struggles and process will help you to be more accountable. It will also help you see things from a different perspective and sometimes even find solutions to problems you might be facing.
5. Take a break
Resting is the best way to recharge your batteries. Take a break. It doesn’t matter if it is long or short, to a resort or to  the village, just rest. Do something different. I like to take one day off during the week or weekend when I just chill at home, watch a series and hang out with my daughter. And this year I have told myself I will schedule holidays so that I can give my mind and body that much needed rest.
6. Reward yourself
This goes hand in hand with point 5 above. Rewards can come in the form of breaks. I also like buying myself something like a new pair of shoes or a handbag or a new set of clothes. Cheat on your diet, go for a mani/pedi, go for a movie, have lunch with friends, etc. Give yourself little treats when you reach different milestones in your journey.
