My Style

Hi all!!! I hope you’re having a better week than I am. I know it’s only Tuesday but I’m feeling so low I just want this week to end. I’m currently reading a book that is forcing me to look at my life and make some changes for the better. I have been struggling with some things the reality of which I have been running away from. But I’ve come to realize that I will have to face this reality sooner or later. I’ve decided to do it now instead of carrying a lot of unnecessary baggage with me for the rest of my youth.
Back to today’s post. There are times when my creativity is on overdrive. Those are the days when I’ll come up with an outfit that leaves me feeling super proud of myself and makes me walk on cloud nine. I wore this to work last Monday and what a mood booster it was!! Have you realized how your mood is instantly uplifted if you are dressed well?

This skirt is one of my projects that  I categorized in my 4 goals before 2013. I had said I wanted to get more sewing done and this is what I started with. I had to alter it in a major way to get it down to my size and I did it all by hand because the sewing machine at home is out of service. Since this is it’s debut on the blog, I kept the outfit simple by pairing it with other brown and black shades with the hint of red on the skirt being brought out by my earrings.

As the weather has been so pleasant (i.e warm/hot) in the last couple of days, I’ve been trying to enjoy my skirts and dresses. But on this particular day, the weather took a turn for the worse and it rained so much as I was leaving the office that I was soaked form the  waist down.

When I want to draw attention to my outfit, I like to keep my accessories to a minimum. I wore my new watch (a gift!!! I finally have a watch!!) a belt to emphasize the peplum (or is it??) jacket and an animal print scarf. Since my heels wearing days are few and far between (read why here) I have started investing in wedges. I fell in love with these wedges immediately I saw them. They are a perfect fit and have a cute bow infront and a plus I can wear them with a large number of outfits (last worn here) from formal to casual.

 Outfit Details:
Skirt: gift from mum
Jacket: Sarojini Market, India
Scarf: borrowed from mum (she has such a great collection)
Handbag: gift
Wedges: Nairobi street (Ksh. 200)
Earrings: gift
Headband: INA Market, India
Belt: from my sister
P/S When I was leaving the house my sister said, “You look like autumn!!!” Hence the title of this post. And I got so many compliments on this day I will try to keep it up, hoping my struggles don’t get the better of me!!!
Happy Tuesday!!!
