Christmas 2017

Merry Christmas to you all, loves!

I hope you are enjoying this holiday season. I thought it would be fun to share with you (and document) my Christmas this year. I had been dying of excitement from about mid-November. Christmas is my favourite season of the year and I couldn’t wait to sing along to carols, decorate the house, buy Christmas presents, plan meals for Christmas day and most importantly, share the excitement of the festivities with my little one.

Elly is now old enough to take part in all this. She was so excited when I brought out the Christmas tree that she kept saying, “Mummy, let’s decorate the tree.” She happily took part in putting up the baubbles and when I got back home she told me that she had put up all the purple ones.

Come Christmas morning, little missy was bursting with excitement when she saw the gifts “Christmas Father” (as she calls Father Christmas) brought us. She couldn’t wait to open her gifts. I was a bit nervous that she wouldn’t be as excited about what I got her but it turned out well in the end. Elly loved all her gifts.

She was just as excited about the Christmas cake and cookies that we had for desert. Elly loves cake so she couldn’t wait to down a piece. She was so cute. She made me put candles on the cake and we sang happy birthday to Jesus before we cut it.

I must admit that as I write out this post, I’m a bit tired of my Christmas playlist. I listened to A LOT of Pentatonix. This group is my absolute favourite this time of year. I loooove their music and their version of carols. Of course there’s Mariah Carey. Who doesn’t love a bit of old-school Mariah Carey over Christmas? Then there was Kirk Franklin and the Family and Sia (Surprise, surprise).

Cookie and ice-cream for Christmas dinner

All in all, I had a wonderful time celebrating with my family. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I ended the day with a bit of icecream and some delicious homemade cookies as I watched Home Alone 2.

I hope you’re enjoying your holidays and keeping safe. Thank you for stopping by.
