It’s been so long since I planned to do something fun and out of my usual routine. Now that I have decided to use this year to find myself, I thought it would be a good idea to review my bucket list. For today’s post, I want to share ten things that I have always wanted to do in the hopes that it will hold me accountable and also inspire someone out there to go out and do something for themselves.
Without further ado, here are 10 things that are in my bucket list, in no particular order.
- Go snorkeling. This has been a dream of mine since I discovered what snorkeling was. Can you believe I have only been to the coast once in my life! I’m hoping to change that this year and while I am there, I want to go snorkeling.
- Go bungee jumping. I’m a bit of a control freak but I want to loosen up a little and I think bungee jumping will be a good way to start.
- Polish my French. I studied French in uni and sort of let it go over the years but I want to change this. I have come across this site which I plan to use to start my refresher course. I then hope to visit a French speaking country (not necessarily France) where I can practice and polish my French.
- Learn another language. I am a language buff. When I lived in India, I picked up a few Hindi words and could understand quite a bit by the time I left. I have also done the first few levels of Spanish but I stopped. So, once French is in the bag, I want to embark on another language, maybe Italian or Arabic.
- Travel. When I first got a passport, some 11 years ago, I swore that it would be full of visa stamps. I have managed to travel quite a bit over the years and for that I am grateful. But the travel bug is still biting and I’m hoping to do quite a bit of local travel for starters: Kenya, Tanzania, Congo. I have been to Uganda so that’s one Eastern African country complete. I hope to take my daughter along with me as it seems she likes to travel too.
- Up my cooking game and possibly document it. I have discovered that I love cooking. I find it therapeutic and I love the thrill of trying out new recipes (whether from a cookbook or from my head) and seeing how they come out (usually quite good). Would you like to see some recipes on the blog? Do let me know in the comments.
- Learn kick-boxing. My obsession with kick-boxing started out of anger and frustration. I needed a new outlet and kick-boxing seemed like the perfect way to let out steam.
- Get a tattoo. Another of my obsessions. I got a piercing on my lip some 6 years ago, was it and got rid of it out of pressure to conform. Now I want to get something that is for me, something that I will look at throughout the years as a reminder of how far I have come. I’m yet to decide on what kind of tattoo but as soon as I do, I will definitely be getting one.
- Try scrapbooking. I have so many memories that I want to eternalize and a scrapbook is the perfect way. Photos to be printed, recalling good times and testing the artist in me with all sorts of art to accompany the memories, sounds exciting.
- Go out to a movie at least once a month. I used to go out to see the latest movies and then stopped for lack of company but as I try to embrace enjoying my own company, I think a movie date would be great.
What are some of the things on your bucket list? Do share, I hope to expand mine. There’s a whole 9 months left of 2016 to fill with fun and exciting activities.
